What Are the Causes of Gastric Bleeding?
Disease description:
Today, after returning home from work, I experienced hematemesis (vomiting blood), accompanied by chills and generalized weakness. My doctor diagnosed me with gastric bleeding. What are the possible causes of gastric bleeding?
Causes of gastric bleeding include alcohol consumption, overeating, and ingestion of spicy or irritating foods. It may also result from the patient’s use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, clopidogrel, or ibuprofen. Patients should follow a bland, mild diet—avoiding spicy, raw, cold, or alcoholic foods—to minimize gastric irritation. Additionally, overeating must be avoided; patients with gastric disorders are advised to adopt a pattern of eating smaller, more frequent meals.
