In general, during the early postoperative period, intestinal function may not yet be fully restored, and consuming milk could place additional strain on the gastrointestinal tract. For the first few days after surgery, patients are advised to follow their physician’s instructions and opt for light, easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid foods—such as rice water or thin congee—to minimize gastrointestinal burden and promote wound healing.

One week after surgery, patients may gradually incorporate mashed vegetables into their diet in moderation, while avoiding spicy, irritating, greasy, or hard-to-digest foods. After 24 hours postoperatively, small amounts of water may be consumed; if no significant abdominal discomfort occurs, patients may progressively advance to liquid and then semi-liquid foods.
