Is anal itching caused by roundworms?
Disease description:
My child has been complaining of anal itching for the past few days. I’d like to ask: Is anal itching caused by roundworms?
Anal itching may be caused by pinworm infection, but it can also be associated with perianal eczema; therefore, timely medical evaluation at a hospital is recommended. If the cause is intestinal pinworm infection, antiparasitic treatment—such as albendazole tablets—may be prescribed under a physician’s guidance. If perianal eczema is diagnosed, topical medications—such as zinc oxide ointment—may be applied as directed by a healthcare provider. Additionally, maintaining good dietary hygiene and avoiding unclean or contaminated food is essential.
