Gingivitis, poor oral hygiene, and systemic factors can all cause gum itching and pain. Additionally, age and psychological factors may also contribute to gum itching, swelling, and discomfort. Gum itching is primarily caused by inadequate oral cleanliness, leading to accumulation of food debris, dental plaque, and calculus. This allows oral bacteria to proliferate extensively, resulting in gingivitis and gingival bleeding. Moreover, periodontal diseases such as gingival tumors may rupture during chewing due to mechanical friction.
