What Causes Glaucoma?
Disease description:
I have had hypertension for a long time, and recently my eyes have been uncomfortable—possibly due to glaucoma. What causes glaucoma?
Glaucoma is caused by damage to the optic nerve. The primary contributing factors include elevated intraocular pressure, migraine, and hypertension. Additionally, prolonged periods of bending over or working at a desk can also lead to increased intraocular pressure and potentially trigger glaucoma. Therefore, timely diagnosis and treatment are critically important. Commonly employed treatment methods currently include trabeculectomy, sclerostomy, and non-penetrating trabeculectomy.
