Disease description:

I played ball today, and shortly after returning home and taking a shower, I suddenly felt pain in both inguinal regions. What could be causing bilateral inguinal pain in males?

Dr. Li Mingchuan
The most common cause of bilateral inguinal pain in males is infection of the genitourinary system, such as bilateral seminal vesiculitis, vasitis, orchitis, epididymitis, or prostatitis with retrograde infection—leading to inflammation of the reproductive organs. Inflammatory reactions and swelling of the inguinal lymph nodes can also cause pain in the inguinal region. Palpation may reveal a firm, tender mass; in severe cases, systemic symptoms such as fever may occur. As these conditions are frequently caused by bacterial, viral, or tuberculous infections, antimicrobial therapy is required following definitive diagnosis.
