Can a routine urinalysis detect cystitis and urethritis?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been experiencing increased urinary frequency, which may indicate cystitis or urethritis. My company offers a free urinalysis as part of its employee health benefits—can urinalysis detect cystitis or urethritis?
Urinalysis can help diagnose cystitis and urethritis. For cystitis, a urine culture (not “uric acid barium test”) is required; the presence of cystitis can be determined by assessing bacterial and white blood cell counts in the urine. Urethritis is diagnosed based on routine urinalysis, particularly elevated white blood cell and red blood cell counts. If symptoms such as urinary frequency and dysuria are present, urethritis or cystitis is highly likely, and prompt antibiotic treatment is recommended. In daily life, drink plenty of boiled water and urinate frequently.
