―Stomach pain when hungry can be treated with acid-suppressing medication. Pain occurring on an empty stomach is usually caused by gastric acid irritating the upper abdominal lining, as there is no food present to neutralize the acid. After eating, the acid is neutralized, reducing irritation and relieving pain. Medications such as omeprazole, rabeprazole, or lansoprazole may be used. It is recommended to take these medications for 6–8 weeks, but they should not be used long-term.
