Disease description:

For the past few days, I've noticed a cracking or popping sound from my bones whenever I exercise, but this symptom does not occur when I'm not active. What causes bones to make such sounds?

Joint cracking is primarily caused by prolonged inactivity of a specific joint, followed by sudden physical activity—this can lead to instantaneous joint deformation and increased negative pressure within the joint cavity, resulting in bubble formation and audible cracking sounds. Skeletal developmental abnormalities may also cause noticeable sounds during joint movement, as adjacent bones rub against each other. Additionally, joint cracking can be associated with other factors, including ligamentous laxity around the joint and osteoporosis.
