In normal males, the final pair of chromosomes is 46XY. Double Y chromosome refers to males whose final chromosome pair is XYY.

A typical person has 23 pairs of chromosomes, with the first 22 pairs being autosomes and the last pair being the sex chromosomes.

Males with a double Y chromosome tend to be tall, usually 0–5 cm taller than their peers. They may also exhibit behavioral or personality issues such as impulsivity, emotional instability, and irritability. However, not all individuals with a double Y chromosome show obvious symptoms.
