The appendix is located in the lower right abdomen of the human body, between the ileum and the cecum. It is also known as the vermiform appendix. The base of the appendix attaches to the posterior medial wall of the cecum, while its distal end is closed. Generally, the appendix lies in the lower right portion of the abdomen, between the ileum and cecum. Due to individual anatomical variations, the length and exact position of the appendix may differ. Most appendices are approximately 5–7 cm long, with only a few reaching up to 20 cm.
