If it is iron-deficiency anemia, it is best not to drink hot water with scalded eggs and brown sugar. Brown sugar eggs should not be prepared by pouring boiling water over them. When eggs are steeped in boiling water, they become what is known as brown sugar eggs—delicious in taste—but this method cannot thoroughly kill parasites and bacteria inside the eggs. Iron can instead be supplemented through well-cooked eggs, animal liver, lean meat, fish, and other foods. If severe iron deficiency symptoms occur, oral ferrous succinate and vitamin C may be taken.
