What should I do if my baby has flared ribs?
Disease description:
My daughter just turned one year old, and I've noticed something unusual about her ribs. What should I do if a baby has flared ribs?
Flared ribs in infants and young children can result from either abnormal rib development or rickets due to calcium deficiency. Correcting rib flaring is a long-term process, and parents should initiate timely treatment. It is also important to strengthen physical exercise and increase lung activity. Passive chest expansion exercises can be performed between 3 to 5 months of age. If there is no improvement by the age of 2, surgical intervention should be considered.
