This condition could be caused by poor kidney function. If the kidneys' ability to excrete water is impaired, fluid may accumulate in the body, potentially leading to edema and even hypertension. If hypokalemia occurs, potassium supplementation may be appropriate, such as using medications like potassium chloride. This phenomenon can also occur due to sweating, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, and can be treated by oral glucose or intravenous infusion of saline solution.
