Why does a child feel the urge to defecate but can't pass stool?
Disease description:
A friend's child has recently been complaining of being unable to pass stool—feeling the urge to defecate but struggling to actually do so. They would like to know what causes children to feel the need to poop but be unable to pass stool.
Decreased gastrointestinal function. This condition is likely due to poor intestinal function in children, particularly inadequate intestinal motility, which makes it difficult to pass stool. It is recommended to increase water intake and consume more fruits and vegetables to help soften the stool. Probiotics such as Bifidobacterium and Saccharomyces boulardii can be taken to regulate the gut microbiota and improve intestinal function. Additionally, gently massaging the abdomen in a clockwise direction around the navel during daily routines may promote intestinal motility and facilitate bowel movements.
