Can trigger finger (tenosynovitis of the thumb) be treated with corticosteroid injections?
Disease description:
My husband has tenosynovitis in his thumb, and I'm very worried and心疼 (heartbroken) for him. Can he receive a corticosteroid injection for thumb tenosynovitis?
It can be treated effectively, but treatment must be conducted under the guidance of a doctor; self-treatment without medical advice is not recommended. This is a common clinical condition, often caused by excessive joint strain or incorrect working posture. When symptoms of tenosynovitis are mild, treatment may involve activity restriction and some physical therapy. If there is no improvement, local steroid injections (closed injections) can be administered. This is a commonly used conservative treatment method and generally yields good results.
