What should I do if my hand hurts from overuse?
Disease description:
Today, while working, I experienced arm pain due to excessive strain. A friend suggested seeking treatment as early as possible. I'd like to know what should be done when hand pain occurs from overuse?
Apply local cold compresses and physical therapy. During the early stage of localized hand pain, cold compresses can be used to prevent the spread of injury. After 72 hours post-injury, apply a warm towel locally to promote absorption of hematoma and reduce localized pain. Patients may also choose treatments such as physical therapy, acupuncture, or massage to effectively relieve pain. If the pain is severe and affects daily activities, an orthopedic evaluation is necessary; X-rays may be required to check for fractures or dislocations when needed.
