Disease description:

Lately, my son keeps saying that one leg of the pants I bought for him feels longer than the other, while the other leg fits just right. The doctor said he has one leg longer than the other. What causes a condition where one leg is longer than the other?

Dr. Lin Yunfei
Congenital conditions and pelvic tilt, among others. The most common is congenital hip dysplasia on one side; when the affected hip joint experiences subluxation or complete dislocation, the femoral head shifts above the acetabulum, resulting in shortening of the lower limb on the affected side. Pelvic tilt, sitting posture, sleeping position, and other factors can also lead to imbalanced lumbar muscle strength, further exacerbating pelvic tilt and causing apparent shortening of one lower limb.
