Disease description:

I had an IUD inserted three months ago, and last night I experienced vaginal bleeding after intercourse. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I suspect it might be cervicitis. Could the bleeding during intercourse three months after IUD insertion be due to cervicitis?

Vaginal bleeding occurring suddenly after intercourse three months following IUD insertion may be due to cervical disease or IUD displacement. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound to check whether the position of the IUD has changed, as well as undergo a detailed cervical examination to determine if there is any underlying cervical condition. If cervical inflammation is diagnosed, medication or physical therapy under a doctor's guidance is generally recommended. If IUD displacement is confirmed, appropriate management should be carried out under medical supervision. Intercourse should be avoided temporarily, and it is advised to maintain a light diet, avoiding spicy, irritating, raw, or cold foods.
