What should I do if my menstrual flow is very heavy after taking dydrogesterone tablets?
Disease description:
The dydrogesterone tablets we refer to are a form of progesterone. Their primary function is to treat secondary amenorrhea, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, and related conditions. However, there are many contraindications associated with the use of dydrogesterone tablets. So, what should you do if your menstrual flow becomes very heavy after taking dydrogesterone tablets?
It is normal to experience heavy menstrual bleeding after taking dydrogesterone tablets. Dydrogesterone is a progestogen medication used to treat conditions caused by endogenous progesterone deficiency, such as dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, secondary amenorrhea, irregular menstrual cycles, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, threatened or habitual abortion due to progesterone deficiency, and infertility caused by luteal phase defect. Increased menstrual flow after taking dydrogesterone tablets is usually withdrawal bleeding triggered by the initial use of the medication. Some women may have had a thick endometrial lining previously; taking dydrogesterone can cause shedding of the endometrium, leading to heavier menstruation. Generally, no special treatment is required, and the bleeding will gradually decrease over time.
