Disease description:

I've been married for five years and haven't been able to get pregnant. Tests showed that I have blocked fallopian tubes, and I've had inflammation for a long time. A friend suggested trying tubal flushing. Can tubal flushing open up partially blocked fallopian tubes?

Sometimes, tubal flushing with fluid can open up mildly blocked fallopian tubes, as certain blockages are caused by mucus or small amounts of endometrial tissue. Flushing with liquid may clear these obstructions. However, if the fallopian tubes are adhered or severely damaged, this method is ineffective. A proper evaluation of the tubes is necessary, and hysterosalpingography (HSG) is recommended. HSG allows direct visualization under X-ray to determine whether the fallopian tubes are patent. Simply using fluid flushing cannot confirm whether the tubes are truly open.
