Can practicing yoga treat cervical spondylosis?
Disease description:
I am a 25-year-old woman. Recently, due to prolonged periods of looking down at electronic devices, I've developed some cervical spine problems, which have significantly affected my quality of life. I'm not sure what to do. Can practicing yoga help treat cervical spondylosis?
Proper yoga can help alleviate symptoms of early-stage stable cervical spondylosis, but it cannot cure the condition. Since cervical spondylosis is a common disorder in modern society—typically affecting individuals who spend long periods looking down at mobile phones, computers, or working at desks—it is often difficult to cure completely. Appropriate yoga stretching exercises can relieve symptoms, strengthen neck muscles, and maintain cervical stability. In daily life, patients must protect their necks by avoiding strenuous activities and prolonged static postures. Pain may be relieved through manual massage and traction therapies. If necessary, oral or local anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications can be used to reduce pain symptoms. If symptoms show no improvement within a short period, patients must seek medical attention and consider more appropriate treatment options.
