Hello, the most common complication following spinal anesthesia is headache. This occurs because the dura mater is punctured during the procedure, and the anesthetic agent is typically injected into the subarachnoid space. If the injected solution has a relatively high osmolarity, it may partially disrupt cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation, thereby predisposing the patient to postoperative headache. Therefore, patients who have undergone spinal anesthesia should be instructed to lie supine without a pillow for 6–8 hours postoperatively, avoid vigorous physical activity, have their blood pressure and heart rate closely monitored, and receive appropriate intravenous fluid supplementation to prevent hypotension secondary to hemodynamic instability.
