In daily life, one may use herbs such as honeysuckle, dandelion, scrophularia, dwarf lilyturf root, and American ginseng to steep in water as a tea substitute, which helps nourish yin and clear heat. Diet should be light, emphasizing foods that nourish yin, such as milk, duck meat, pork skin, lily bulbs, and smoked plum (wu mei). Spicy and greasy foods should be avoided to prevent worsening of the condition.
