Why does menstruation only come every two months? What could be the reason?
Disease description:
Since this year, my period has been coming once every two months. I went to the hospital for a checkup and took the prescribed medication, which triggered my period, but then it stopped again. I would like to consult about why my period is only coming once every two months.
Menstruation occurring once every two months is generally caused by endocrine disorders. If a patient consistently has menstrual cycles every two months, with regular intervals, normal menstrual flow, and no prolonged duration, this indicates that the patient's ovulation cycle occurs once every two months and does not require treatment. However, if a patient previously had regular menstrual cycles but now experiences menstruation only once every two months, this irregularity is usually due to endocrine abnormalities. In such cases, a gynecological ultrasound should be performed to rule out organic lesions.
