What causes left lower abdominal pain after intercourse?

Pain in the lower left abdomen after intercourse may be a normal physiological phenomenon or caused by pathological factors. Physiologically, it could occur if the woman is in her ovulation phase, during which sexual activity may lead to mild pain on the left side of the lower abdomen; this type of discomfort is usually mild and does not require treatment. Pathological causes may include pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, or ovarian cyst torsion, which might also be accompanied by symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding or increased vaginal discharge.
