Disease description:

There's a small blood blister on the tongue, which turned into an ulcer after being bitten. Does this mean I have tongue cancer? Can a purple blood blister on the tongue that bursts and becomes an ulcer be tongue cancer?

A purple blood blister on the tongue that has been bitten and ulcerated is not necessarily tongue cancer. Characteristics of tongue cancer include cauliflower-like growths or sores that fail to heal over time. Oral ulcers typically heal spontaneously within 7 to 10 days; if an ulcer persists for more than a month without improvement, medical evaluation at a hospital is necessary. A black blood blister on the tongue may result from biting, causing localized hematoma that cannot drain promptly, leading to rupture. Maintain good oral hygiene, chew food slowly and carefully to avoid accidental biting, and establish the habit of brushing teeth morning and night.
