How to treat acute laryngitis in children
Disease description:
Recently, my child has been coughing frequently and making a high-pitched sound when inhaling. The doctor diagnosed it as acute laryngitis in children. How is acute laryngitis in children treated?
Pediatric acute laryngitis can generally be treated with medications or surgical interventions. Patients may be treated with dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, or similar drugs, and intravenous administration is sometimes chosen to alleviate local edema and laryngeal constriction. In severe cases where medication proves ineffective, tracheotomy should be performed as recommended by physicians to relieve breathing difficulties and prevent life-threatening risks. Some children may experience disease recurrence, which typically does not carry a risk of fatality; however, if the condition is severe and left untreated promptly, it may endanger the child's life.
