Is it good to get full porcelain dental crowns for all teeth?
Disease description:
My teeth look a bit unattractive. I want to replace all my back teeth with all-ceramic crowns. Is it a good idea to get all-ceramic crowns for my entire mouth?
Full-mouth porcelain dental crowns are generally not recommended. Porcelain crowns have a different hardness compared to natural teeth—they are harder than natural teeth and may cause occlusal damage to the roots of natural teeth and the periodontal ligament, potentially even affecting the temporomandibular joint. These crowns offer good biocompatibility and aesthetic appeal, do not irritate the gums, and are less likely to trigger allergic reactions. However, they are fragile and prone to chipping or fracture; therefore, it is advised not to bite hard foods after treatment. Complications such as gingivitis and tartar buildup may also occur, although with today's relatively advanced implant technology, such issues are uncommon.
