Which anatomical sites are examined during musculoskeletal ultrasound?
Disease description:
Due to physical reasons, I’m experiencing severe pain around the kneecap. My doctor recommended a musculoskeletal ultrasound. So, which area is examined during a musculoskeletal ultrasound?
Hello, musculoskeletal ultrasound can examine a wide range of anatomical sites—essentially any joint throughout the body. This includes the cervical joints, shoulder joints, elbow joints and wrist joints of the upper limbs, and even the interphalangeal joints of the fingers. Major joints across the body—as well as surrounding soft tissues such as the transverse processes on both sides of the lumbar spine, muscles, and scapular region—are all assessable. Additionally, the hip joints, knee joints, ankle joints, interphalangeal joints, and even the joints of the toes can be evaluated. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a happy and healthy life!
