Can uterine fibroids cause irregular bleeding?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids a few days ago. I heard from a friend that it might cause irregular bleeding. Can this condition lead to irregular bleeding?
Uterine fibroids may cause irregular bleeding. Submucosal fibroids, in particular, can lead to prolonged menstrual periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, or irregular vaginal bleeding. If a fibroid undergoes ulceration or necrosis, it may result in persistent vaginal bleeding. Intramural fibroids that are relatively large can increase the surface area of the endometrium and may also cause irregular bleeding.
