Causes of elevated central venous pressure in acute right heart failure
Disease description:
I've felt short of breath and slightly suffocated over the past two days. After examination, I learned it was acute right heart failure with elevated central venous pressure. What are the causes of elevated central venous pressure in acute right heart failure?
An increase in central venous pressure during acute right heart failure may result from weakened cardiac pumping function, along with relatively insufficient blood return capacity, leading to central venous congestion. Additionally, patients with pre-existing renal failure may develop elevated central venous pressure due to inability to excrete urine promptly, or from rapid and excessive intravenous fluid administration over a short period, resulting in volume overload, which commonly contributes to acute right heart failure.
