Disease description:

I've recently developed many rashes on my body, and I'm not sure what they are. A friend said it might be pityriasis versicolor, but it also looks like vitiligo. What's the difference between pityriasis versicolor and vitiligo?

Pityriasis versicolor and vitiligo differ in pathogenesis, age of onset, and other aspects. Vitiligo is an acquired condition that can begin at any age, but it commonly affects young people, with more than half of patients developing the disease before age 20. In pityriasis versicolor, lesions gradually transition into normal skin; hair pigmentation usually remains normal. At the edges of scalp lesions, pigment deposition is either not明显 or only white hairs are present without patches.
