Abnormal vaginal discharge that is watery, painless, and has an odor may indicate infection or inflammation. Watery discharge alone, without odor, itching, or other symptoms, could also be caused by cervical inflammation. A pale white discharge with a pungent smell may sometimes signal cervical or vaginal cancer. In addition, when submucosal uterine fibroids undergo necrosis, they can cause increased watery discharge with a foul odor, typically associated with bacterial vaginosis, which often produces a fishy (ammonia-like) smell.
