What does it mean when the vaginal discharge test shows positive for hydrogen peroxide?
Disease description:
Recently, I've been feeling some discomfort in my lower area. After going to the hospital for a checkup, I found out that my vaginal discharge tested positive for hydrogen peroxide. What does it mean if the test result for hydrogen peroxide in vaginal discharge comes back positive?
A positive hydrogen peroxide test in vaginal discharge may indicate the presence of vaginitis. While white blood cells normally exist in the female vagina, hydrogen peroxide should not be present. A positive result commonly occurs in fungal vaginitis, trichomonal vaginitis, and bacterial vaginitis, and is often associated with poor hygiene. During treatment, it's important to get adequate rest and avoid overexertion. Underwear should be changed frequently, washed thoroughly with hot water, and then dried in sunlight.
