Methods for Managing Fever in Pregnant Women
Disease description:
I’m four months pregnant, but I’ve recently caught a slight chill. My forehead feels very hot, and I suspect I have a fever. Could you please advise me on safe and effective ways to manage fever during pregnancy?
Hello,
If you develop a fever during pregnancy, the first step is to measure your body temperature accurately. If your temperature is below 38°C (100.4°F), physical cooling methods are recommended—such as gently wiping the forehead, armpits, and popliteal fossae (behind the knees) with alcohol or lukewarm water.
If your temperature exceeds 38°C, prompt oral antipyretic medication is advised. Xiao Chai Hu Granules (Minor Bupleurum Granules) may be taken; this herbal preparation is considered safe for fetal development. Additionally, drink plenty of plain water and maintain a light, easily digestible diet.
Should your fever rise above 39°C (102.2°F), seek immediate medical attention at a hospital for evaluation and possible intramuscular or intravenous antipyretic therapy.
We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health and happiness!
