How is right-sided pericardial effusion caused?
Disease description:
On the way driving to work in the morning, I felt unwell and noticed obvious fluid accumulation in the pericardial area. What causes fluid accumulation in the right pericardial space?
Right pericardial effusion is generally caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, although other pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites can also be responsible. This condition may develop after acute myocardial infarction, particularly when cardiac rupture occurs. There is significant exudation from the endocardium and epicardium; the volume of exudate cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream, so this excess fluid accumulates in the pericardial space, presenting in this form.
