Can roxithromycin treat pharyngitis?
Disease description:
Recently, my pharyngitis has recurred, and I sometimes feel a foreign body sensation. I only have roxithromycin at home—can roxithromycin treat pharyngitis?
Roxithromycin can treat pharyngitis. It inhibits the synthesis of pathogenic proteins such as those from mycoplasma and chlamydia. However, roxithromycin has side effects in humans; some patients may experience discomfort such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and nausea after taking it. When treating chronic pharyngitis, avoid spicy and irritating foods in the diet, drink plenty of water, get adequate rest, and consume more fresh vegetables, fruits, and high-protein foods to enhance resistance.
