Disease description:

When I looked in the mirror this morning, I noticed a slight bulge inside my throat. I suspect it might be a vocal cord polyp. I'd like to ask, is a polyp-like small protrusion on the left vocal cord considered a vocal cord polyp?

A small polyp-like protrusion on the left vocal cord may be a vocal cord polyp. This condition is a common benign lesion of the larynx and can occur at any site in the neck; when it occurs in the vocal cords, it is called a vocal cord polyp. It may be associated with long-term improper voice use, chronic irritation, or persistent inflammation. The primary symptom is usually voice change. Depending on the size, shape, and location of the polyp, the degree of voice quality alteration and hoarseness varies.
