Is it normal to experience pain after using ear drops?
Disease description:
I felt uncomfortable in my ear, so I put in a few drops of ear drops. After a short while, I started to feel pain. Is it normal for ear drops to cause pain?
Pain after using ear drops is not a normal occurrence.
Two factors are generally considered: one is uncontrolled inflammation, and the other is incorrect concentration of the ear drops. If pain is due to uncontrolled inflammation, oral or intravenous antibiotics should be added, and steroids may be necessary in some cases. The typical treatment course lasts about five days. If the pain is caused by the concentration of the ear drops, the current drops should be discontinued and replaced with another formulation.
