To clean the ears with hydrogen peroxide, instill hydrogen peroxide ear drops into the ear canal until it is completely filled, and leave it in place for 5 to 10 minutes to fully exert its antibacterial effect. The advantage of cleaning the external auditory canal with hydrogen peroxide is that it exerts minimal force and weak pressure, thus avoiding pushing pus into the middle ear cavity, preventing dislocation of the ossicular chain within the middle ear, and preserving hearing.
