I always experience a dull, aching pain in my lower abdomen during ovulation each month. I've never found the cause and haven't paid much attention to it. I'd like to know, what could be the reason for frequent aching pain in the lower abdomen during ovulation?

Lower abdominal discomfort during ovulation often occurs because the egg matures during the ovulatory phase. As ovarian tissue gradually thins, the mature egg is released from the ruptured ovary, and a small amount of fluid flows into the lowest part of the pelvic cavity. Ovulation can stimulate the secretion of prostaglandins, which cause contraction of the smooth muscle fibers in the connective tissue surrounding the egg. Under the influence of hormonal changes and surface tension of the mature follicle on the ovary, follicular rupture may occur, leading to ovulation.
