Dysmenorrhea caused by adenomyosis does not respond well to menstrual pain moxibustion. Moreover, using moxibustion during menstruation may increase menstrual flow and prolong the duration of periods. Therefore, for women with uterine adenomyosis, moxibustion should not be performed either during or outside the menstrual period. If symptoms are mild, traditional Chinese medicine under the guidance of a TCM practitioner may help control and relieve the condition.
