Can intrauterine adhesions cause amenorrhea?
Disease description:
I previously had an abortion procedure, and my menstruation has not resumed since. Upon examination, intrauterine adhesions were found. Can intrauterine adhesions cause amenorrhea?
Intrauterine adhesions can lead to amenorrhea. Mild intrauterine adhesions can be treated with medication. For severe intrauterine adhesions, hysteroscopic dilation may be performed, followed by taking short-term oral contraceptives for three cycles to prevent re-adhesion. After surgery, personal hygiene should be maintained, sexual intercourse should be avoided too early, and uterine cavity irritation should be minimized as much as possible.
