Weight gain during menstruation is caused by decreased estrogen levels, leading to fluid retention in the body. This may result in facial and lower limb edema, and sometimes even cerebral edema, thereby increasing body weight. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and usually resolves spontaneously once the menstrual period ends. Additionally, blood loss and increased metabolism during menstruation can stimulate appetite, which may also contribute to weight gain. It is recommended to get adequate rest, avoid fatigue, eat light and nutritious foods, engage in moderate exercise, maintain a relaxed mood, relieve stress from daily life and work, and ensure sufficient rest and sleep.
