Is liver cancer contagious when being around someone who has it?
Disease description:
Recently, I heard that one of my colleagues has liver cancer. I've been working closely with him for several days, so I'd like to ask: is liver cancer contagious? Can I get infected by being around someone who has it?
Liver cancer is generally not contagious, so being in contact with someone who has liver cancer usually does not lead to transmission. However, liver cancer does have a certain degree of familial genetic predisposition. If a close relative has liver cancer, their children may have a higher risk of developing the disease compared to those from families without such history. Additionally, long-term exposure to chemical substances, prolonged consumption of contaminated water, or factors such as excessive alcohol consumption may also increase the likelihood of developing liver cancer.
