Gingival redness and swelling do not necessarily require oral medication. In general, when patients experience bleeding teeth, initial treatment may involve cleaning the pericoronal area and applying topical medication locally. Usually, after the redness and swelling subside, periodontal cleaning treatment can be performed to remove infected plaque and tartar, without the need for oral metronidazole. Patients are advised to maintain a light diet, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and consume more vegetables and fruits.
