Left-sided chest pain during coughing may result from referred pain caused by excessive coughing, leading to the symptom of left chest pain when coughing. Conditions such as overexertion, high mental stress, reduced immunity, or viral infections may trigger costochondritis, resulting in left-sided chest pain during coughing. Additionally, diseases such as pleuritis, sudden pneumothorax, or pulmonary embolism can also cause chest pain that worsens with coughing, thereby leading to the symptom of left chest pain when coughing.
