What does it mean when lung examination is normal but there is pleural effusion?
Disease description:
Three days ago, I went to the hospital for a lung examination. The doctor said there was no abnormality in the lungs, but there was pleural effusion. What could cause pleural effusion even when the lung examination is normal?
A normal lung examination with the presence of pleural effusion may be caused by chronic inflammatory stimulation in the body, possibly due to bacterial infection or Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. If it is a bacterial infection, anti-inflammatory medications such as amoxicillin or cephalexin can be used for treatment. If it is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, drugs such as rifampicin or streptomycin can be used for treatment.
