Any cause can lead to bone hyperostosis.
Disease description:
I've noticed that the elderly at home tend to develop bone spurs as they get older. What causes bone spurs?
Bone spurs may develop due to osteoarthritis, which causes joint damage and leads to the formation of bony projections. They can also result from natural aging of the joints and changes in joint mechanics associated with advancing age. Additionally, repeated stimulation leading to continuous bone spur formation or having autoimmune diseases may contribute to such overgrowths. Moreover, conditions such as being overweight or experiencing excessive joint strain may also trigger the development of bone spurs.
